David was a man after Gods own heart not because of his behavior but because of his belief. Every time David sinned or rebelled, God would confront him and David would sorrowfully take ownership. He did not blame his sins on anyone. The relationship David had with God in the Old Testament is very special. Religion would condemn David through the lens of moralism yet God loved David for always running to Him in relationship. We who are in the New Covenant know now that we can Hold Fast with confidence because we are held fast by the power of Jesus, and not “moralism”.
