Dear Springs Church Family,
I hope you are finding creative ways to pass the time at home. I know I’ve said this many times over the livestream, but Beth and I miss all of you immensely. I want to take this opportunity to share with you some of the things that we as a church body have been working on to care for the Springs Church congregation and people in need in our city.
First, the staff and volunteers have been calling each family represented in our iconnect database to see how everyone is doing individually and as a family. We’ve called nearly four hundred so far and will continue making those calls throughout the week. Next, we will be sending down a catered buffet to our local hospital staff to show them our love and appreciation. We are also in the process of talking with our health department here in the city to see if we can volunteer our parking lot as a drive-through test site for the virus. If that happens, we may be able to have volunteers pray over the cars that come to be tested. Lastly, we are in the process of securing some door hangers to leave on the front doors of houses in different neighborhoods with information on how they can stream services to find a word of comfort and hope during these uncertain times. All of this is dependent of course, on the new restrictions that have been put into place by our governor, but we are working to do as much as possible within those guidelines.
In reference to the new restrictions that have been place on Colorado Springs, we want to inform you that church services that are livestreamed are considered essential services, so we will be able to continue to stream our services to you each Wednesday and Sunday.
I will be attaching a church wide survey at the bottom of this email to help collect some information on the needs in our church body due to the Coronavirus epidemic. Elder Brad will be sharing more in the elders email this week, but I want you to know that because of the very generous giving of our church, we have been able to increase our benevolence fund to meet the financial needs of many of our church members. Thank you for your faithful giving. The elders and myself are always blown away by the willingness of our church to meet the needs of the kingdom of God during difficult times. If you would like to give, you can still do so on our church website following the link below, or you can mail your donation directly to the church. My notes from Sunday's sermon are attached below as well.
I love you all. Praying God’s peace that transcends all understating would rest on your minds and your hearts during this season.
Dear Springs Church Family,
In the midst of the current turmoil, our aim is to continue to support our local church body to the glory of Jesus. Part of this ministry will be adding more communication through the Springs Church website, emails, social media, and other means to encourage you during this season. As Christians, we are promised peace by Jesus (John 14:27), a peace that the world around us cannot offer but does its best to try to take it away.
In times like the present, it is hard to not be anxious and act unreasonably. We can look at our grocery store aisle to see this in the empty shelves of toilet paper and paper towels. At least some people will have paper products in their homes till 2025. How do we remain reasonable in our present circumstances? Paul encouraged the church in Philippi to not be anxious and show everyone around them their reasonableness (Phil. 4:5-6). Below is a brief outline that has helped me.
- First, we go to prayer to bare the depths of our hearts before God – ‘do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God’.
- Second, we remember Jesus is soon returning and with it the end of this time and the ushering in of Eternal glory – ‘The Lord is at hand’.
- Lastly, from these two actions, our hearts and minds are firmed up in faith and our ‘reasonableness’ will be known to those controlled by fear around us through our actions.
I believe that if we take the time to look to the scriptures and pray during this season the Lord will change our hearts from being controlled by anxiousness to being firm in faith and clear in mind. Allowing us to reach more lives for his glory.
If you would like prayer or have other needs please reply to this email and we will get back to you in a timely manner. Remember to join us Sunday mornings at 10:00 am at Springs.church.
Dear Springs Church Family,
Romans 5:5 says; And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
One of the great distinguishing marks of the people of God is the fact that we know the love of Christ. An unconverted man or woman can at different times and different seasons perceive God’s love and experience certain expressions of it. But to really know the love of God, to truly taste it, to be overwhelmed by it; the love of Christ poured out into our hearts through The Holy Spirit is a privilege for the son or daughter of God alone. My question to you today is do you know that? That you have the right and privilege through Christ as a believer to know, to taste, to realize the love of God for yourself. Do you feel God’s love right now? Has it been poured out into your heart? Do you know for certain that Jesus loves you? Is your heart animated, is it quickened, is it warmed to His love? The bible says that perfect love cast out all fear. Can I encourage you Springs Church, in light of what we are all going through, to go to God in prayer and call on The Holy Spirit to quicken you to His love? Ask The Holy Ghost to pour out His love in your heart; to cause you to walk in God’s love if there was ever a time we needed to be claiming this privilege as children of God it is now.
Again, I want to thank all of you who joined us this past Wednesday on our Livestream to worship and pray together for the needs of our church, the nation, and the world. We will continue to broadcast our midweek prayer meeting every Wednesday from 6:30 – 7:30 PM; let's continue to pray together and trust God for an incredible breakthrough in this season.
The Elders have been in prayer and discussion of the COVID – 19 virus and its effect on us as a church body. As of right now all church services and church gatherings will be canceled until the end of March. We will reassess the situation before April and send further communication accordingly.
We will be broadcasting our 10 am Sunday worship and message from Pastor Michael on our Livestream or Facebook Live. Click here: Livestream
